Getting the right heat seal element is the difference between a clean, repeatable seal and a line that keeps stopping. This is a quick guide to the main choices and when each one fits.
Impulse elements vs continuous bands
Impulse elements heat only when current passes through them, then cool. They suit intermittent sealing where the film sits still for a moment. Endless bands run continuously and suit high-throughput lines where product moves without stopping.
If your machine seals one pack at a time, you almost certainly want an impulse element. If it runs a constant flow of product, a band is usually the answer.
Material matters
Most elements are nichrome or stainless steel. Nichrome gives predictable resistance and even heat. Stainless is tougher where the element takes mechanical wear. For food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic lines, the coating on top matters as much as the metal underneath.
When to go custom
Off-the-shelf covers most machines, but not all. If you have an unusual width, a non-standard resistance, or a tapered profile, a custom element made to your drawing will outlast a bodged standard part.
If you are not sure which you need, send us the machine model or a photo of the old element and we will tell you what fits.
