This data is collected through analytics tools and is used to understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
Why we collect it and our legal basis
We process your personal data to respond to your enquiry and, where applicable, to provide you with a quote for our products or services.
Our lawful basis for processing is legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f), UK GDPR). Our legitimate interest is responding to enquiries from potential and existing customers. We have assessed that this processing is necessary for that purpose and does not override your rights, given the data is limited to business contact details you have voluntarily provided.
If your enquiry leads to a commercial relationship, we may also process your data for the performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b), UK GDPR).
For analytics data, our lawful basis is consent (Article 6(1)(a), UK GDPR), obtained via a cookie consent mechanism before any non-essential cookies are set. Essential cookies that are strictly necessary for the website to function do not require consent under PECR Regulation 6.
How we process your data
Our contact form is handled by Formspree, Inc., a US-based form processing service that acts as our data processor. When you submit the form, your data is transmitted to Formspree's servers and forwarded to us by email.
This means your personal data is transferred outside the United Kingdom to the United States. This transfer is covered by the UK-US Data Bridge and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which the UK government has recognised as providing adequate protection for personal data (UK adequacy regulations, 12 October 2023).
You can review Formspree's privacy practices at formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy.
How long we keep your data
We retain enquiry data for up to 24 months from the date of your last contact with us, unless a commercial relationship is established, in which case we retain it for the duration of that relationship plus six years (to meet our legal obligations under the Limitation Act 1980).
Formspree retains form submission data in accordance with their own retention policy. We review and delete old submissions periodically.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Your data is only shared with Formspree (as described above) for the purpose of processing your enquiry. We may also disclose your data if required to do so by law or by a court order.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erase your data (in certain circumstances)
- Restrict or object to our processing of your data
- Data portability (receive your data in a structured, commonly used format)
To exercise any of these rights, email us at office@heatsealco.co.uk. We will respond within one month, as required by law.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). You can contact the ICO at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or by calling 0303 123 1113.
